Can we eat turkey dogs?
We are bbq'ing tonight and I really want a hot dog but I think that's a no-no. Can we eat turkey dogs?

You can have hot dogs in moderation, turkey or regular. Mmmmm. BBQ!!!!! I'll be right over!!! Tomorrow we're BBQing, so you can come over then!

Im not sure about this...
My doctor was pretty attimant about no hot dogs.....everything else she said in moderation.... but the combo of the nitrates and listeria scare was why she felt none.....
But, every doctor is different.....
I miss them like crazy... would love to know turkey dogs would be exempt!!!

I miss them like crazy... would love to know turkey dogs would be exempt!!!
That's interesting! But you cook hot dogs, really hot, especially on a BBQ. I thought that put the listeria problem to rest.

That's interesting! But you cook hot dogs, really hot, especially on a BBQ. I thought that put the listeria problem to rest.
I'm not sure? This is what I read about it......
Listeria is killed by pasteurization and cooking; however, in certain ready-to-eat foods such as hot dogs and deli meats, contamination may occur after cooking but before packaging.
Like I said, every doctor is different... mine was hung up on no sushi and no hot dogs.....

thanks for the info - i always go there - never thought to ask for nitrate free hot dogs though - sounds good now that bbq weather is approaching!!

I've eaten hot dogs. My doctor told me to eat anything that I can keep down, including lunch meat and hot dogs.
Honestly....one hot dog every once in a while is FINE.

The most important thing is the preparation of hotdogs. My doc said absolutely no hotdogs from the outside vendors..who knows how they are prepared
