Can we talk pottys for girls?
My daughter is turning two soon, so at some point I have to get a clue about potty training. I was told it was good to have it around for a while so that she can sit on it when she feels like it without any pressure from me. So, can someone fill me in on what I should be buying at this point? When can you use the attachment seats for your real toilet instead of the little buckets (which sound like lots of fun to clean!)?

Re: Can we talk pottys for girls?
Jules was doing great from her 18 month bday ubtil 21 months when he had an allergic reaction to medication and had serious tummy problems. It seemed to have scared her out of potty training. SInce then, I kind of relaxed with it and she can go when she feels liek it.
But it was rather easy. I just had a potty party on her 18 month bday, got her a potty and put in next to our toilet. When I would go, she would go. Suddenly, she would tell me she had to go. But when she had the reaction, sitting on the potty and getting cramps must have scared her.
I would have to go "potty" about 10 times a day and she would go right next to me. I used a potty, not a seat. It seemed less intimidating...

This is much easier to use - and they'll get used to sitting on the toilet - no transition from little potty to big potty.
If you're going with a little potty anyway, opt for one that has a lid & can be used as a step stoll to the big potty.

Re: Can we talk pottys for girls?
My son hated the little potty.... Once I bought him a seat to put on the real toilet, he potty trained almost immediately... We're still working on it a little bit, but it was a much easier thing to do. plus, who wants to clean poop and pee out of the little bucket?

I used that seat with Emma and we are now working on Jeremy with it. I couldn't imagine cleaning out a little potty... it's one thing in a diaper, another thing free flowing

I got the same one for Marissa! It's great...she's 17 months and already sits on it!
