Can you buy a gift card with a gift card?
Let's say I have a $10 gift card to a store, but I need a $50 gift card. Can I use the $10 towards the purchase of the $50?

No I don't think so. I'm pretty sure most stores don't allow it. I know for sure that Kohl's doesn't.

What difference does it make to them? If they normally accept credit cards, they are getting the sale either way.

Actually, a lot of them. I got a free $25 gift card with my Target purchase the other day and it expressly says on the back "Not redeemable for gift cards" and a whole bunch of other crap. lol!

thats been that way for a while... i was at my sisters in Vegas a few years ago and CVS wouldnt let me buy GC's with a CC... i had to take out cash

I'd contact corporate CVS then because I just bought 4 GCs at CVS with my Amex.
To the OP, you can reload/add additional money to the GC you have.

It's the fees. Fees for the cc processing and then fees for the GC processing. It all adds up. So on a 50 gc, if your pay by cc, after all fees, it would be about $45 dollars collected by the store, could be even less. But they still have to honor $50 worth of goods.

I also think it depends on the gift card your buying. Some places are stricter if you are buying a gift card for another store at their store. Like buying a Best Buy gift card at CVS, rather than at Best Buy.
