Can you buy a pretty decent used car for $10,000?
We know NOTHING about cars but will need one with the arrival of the babies! I do not want a MINI-VAN! I was thinking a station wagon is better for us and we cannot afford a new car, so is a good used car for 10,000 okay?

I would say so. i have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is worth about 6-8,000 on KBB-You can probably search their site by price to see what is out there. If you know a good mechanic you are probably better off buying privately

Absolutely. We just bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for book value. It was a private sale and in very good condition. My husband works with the guy who sold it to us, so he knows him very well. If you do a private sale, make sure you have a mechanic check it out before you purchase it.

I think so. You might want to check out Consumer Reports, they have alot of info on "used cars to avoid" and also which models are the most reliable with a breakdown of price ranges. Good luck!

Yes! Look for a used Honda or Toyota. They retain their value and have great repair reports.

Absolutely. I'd also recommend looking at Hondas or Toyotas.
My Civic has nearly 110,000 miles on it and runs like it's new!
I'm hoping several years from now, we can also say the same for our CR-V.
