Is the technique the same, do you alter it? Are they too strong willed for CIO at this point?
I ask bc DS is a NIGHTMARE lately to get to go to bed, he stands up and screams and throws his paci (yes he still uses a paci) and lovey out of the crib. You lay him back down and it rinse lather repeat for an hour or so. Its driving me insane.
Oh and I have to go back in the retrieve lovey and paci off the floor bc he cannot and will not go to sleep without them.

Re: Can you CIO with a 20 month old?
I had to do it with DD at that age as well and it was tough because she always used to fall asleep on our bed and we would move her into her crib and then she started waking when we put her in. The first week she would cling to me and cry and shake when I went to put her in the crib. Then she cried a few nights until she fell asleep. Finally, I have found the best thing is that I sing her to sleep and she is okay. I start in her room and end outside her room and she is okay. I am still a wimp about letting her truly CIO but I know that it is possible to do something at that age. It is always possible. Harder, but possible.
