Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

I eat it in moderation. I won't allow myself to go crazy over every food, if i did i would eat nothing, lol.

Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

I was told not too , any soft fresh cheeses are a no no, like feta cheese too. I wouldnt risk it, just get the pasteurized one and eat that with the tomatoes.

Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

I'm sure you can find it in the deli case pasturized.

Edited to add- my friend found pasturized blue cheese-
I had a little bit of that the other night.

I also ate a turkey sandwhich- i went to heck with myself this weekend.

Why does this kid make me crave stuff i'm not supposed to eat.

Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

I've been eating feta, fresh mozzarella, blue cheese, gorgonzola cheese, etc. my whole entire pregnancy. When it comes down to it, you have the same chances of getting sick from it being pregnant or not, and I've never gotten sick from it either way, so I'm not too worried. I think in the case of things like cheeses, it comes down to what you feel comfortable doing with your own body.

Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

i was told that most soft cheeses are made with pasteurized milk nowadays, so it would be ok. i'm avoiding it anyway.

I've been doing the same thing. I'm a vegetarian, and I just don't think I could do without my cheeses!

Re: Can you eat fresh mozzarella?

Your immune system is consider to be impaired when you are pregnant, so the chances of you getting sick are higher. Food poisoning from Listeria would have tragic consequences for the baby.

Everyone gets to make their own choices, but should be informed about the facts.

As others have said, all cheese made from pasteurized milk is OK, even if a soft cheese.

Here is a short article from Web MD
