Can You Guys Make Me Feel Better About SOmething
I know it's not right to compare your kids with others, but both my boys are turning 11 months this week (they were a month premature) and they still won't pick up food with there fingers from their trays. I have been putting everything in front of them and they play with the food or pick it up and then drop it into their seats. I still have to spoon feed them all the time. I am just getting frustrated because they love to eat cheese, pancakes, etc. but DH and I have to feed them it and I don't want to do that too much because they might get use to it and not want to do it themselves.
I remember when i went for my 9 month appointment my doctor seemed to think it should happen shortly and then I could ween them from the stage 3 foods, but they are still getting those for lunch and dinner.
Should I be worried about this. I want to open their feeding world, but can't do much until they start taking the initative.
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

One piece of advice that worked for me with my DD (for feeding herself, using a sippy cup, spoon, etc) was day care, because she saw the other kids doing it and she all of a sudden wanted to as well. If you have a friend with a child a little older than them, arrange a play date around lunch so they can eat together. It may help.
Sorry I wanted to add don't worry about it, there are plenty of babies their age who aren't feeding themselves yet, my dd couldn't feed herself many things at that age, we still had to do most of the work. Other than what I suggested above, just keep offering the food to see if they will feed themselves, but don't push them. It'll happen when they're ready.

I think too the fact that they were premature has a lot to do with it. They just need a little more time to catch up.
They will get there! This is spoken from a mom who's DD still won't roll over from her stomach at 7 months She should have been able to do this over a month ago.

I do believe there's some truth to that. Ds was struggling with crawling and he had a playdate with my friends niece who's a few months older. I kid you not, two days later the kid was in full crawl mode.
