Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
Andrew will not take the vitamins separate (I don't blame him ) I have been mixing it in with his milk.
Do you think that is ok?

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
NO its not ok....I started doing this in the beginning whrn she transitioned from formula to milk (I always used to put it in the formula) decided to call the dr - - she said you cant give the vitamins within a few hrs of milk - some thing about the milk btreaking down the vitamins to quickly?? something along those lines....all I know is they told me to stop putting it in the bottle, and dont even give it to her like an hr before of after the bottle...so now I give it mid day in her water or juice because she only drinks m9ilk AM and PM - - hth

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
Not the ones I use. I cannot give them and 2 hours before or after milk. The lactose breaks down the potency of the vitamins.

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
What vitamins do you guys use that break down in the milk? I'm curious becaue I've been doing this for years. Now I'm wondering if it worked for my 4 year old and is it working for my 21 month old.

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
My ped. said not to give DS the vitamins with milk because the milk doesn't allow the body to asorb the minerals. She said to do it with juice.

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
I give it in his midday sippy of juice. Never in the milk. I tried to give it to him straight one day and he spit it all over me. Lesson learned. Sadly, my "baby" is almost ready for the chewables.

I was told the same- Either way- It gave RJ an upset tummy if I gave them together/to close together...
I use the poly-vi-flor (or whatever its called)
We recently switched to chewables, we keep them in the candy jar, and allow Rj to pick one after dinner everyday...
He thinks they are a special treat

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
They should really put this on the label or the sheet that comes with them. It says nothing about giving it an hour before or after milk on it

My ped never said anything about it either. I've been giving it to him before his bottle, he's been taking it but I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to. It smells nasty

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
i read somewher that the vitamins can stain their teeth so I have been putting it in DD's cereal for the past 6 mths. I did a search on line for Poly vi sol and this is what they answered when asked "Can I mix the vitamins with my baby's food"?
A.
Vitamin drops, can be added to small amounts of breast milk, formula, fruit juice, cereal, or some food that is a normal part of your child's diet. Fer-in-Sol can be mixed only with water or juice. Vitamins added to formula or milk must be added slowly and swirled to keep the milk from curdling.

I'm really confused now - does that mean formula too?
My peds (which I think are the same as yours) never told me not to put it in her bottle - in fact, I think that I even asked if it could go in the same bottle as the axid...

Re: Can you put the liquid vitamins in with the milk?
Walgreens has a product and they can flavor the kid's medicine with just about any flavor you can imagine, they told me they'd do it for me but DD takes those vitamins like a trooper, lol. The face she makes every morning looks like, "Okay, I'll take it for you, mom, but only so you don't feel bad."
I don't know if the flavor stuff is okay for babies, but it's FDA approved and it only costs like $2.99.

My pediatricians never told me anything about this. I read it on the pamphlet that comes with the vitamins from CVS. And yes this means lactose based formulas as well.
