Can you recommend a pedi dermatologist? DS has eczema.
Poor DS is red and itchy. Our pediatrician prescribed 2.5% hydrocortizone but it isn't working. We have been lathering on the aquaphor multiple times a day as well.
The dermatologist our pediatrician recommended is booking for OCTOBER!!! Hoping to get an earlier appointment elsewhere.
Can you recommend your pedi dermatologist on Long Island? North Shore preferred but I'd be willing to travel wherever for an earlier appointment.
What did your pediatrician and/or dermatologist recommend?
I've heard protopic worked well but read online that it should only be used for kids over 2yo. DS is 4 months old.

Re: Can you recommend a pedi dermatologist? DS has eczema.
When my son was under 1 he had severe eczema and both his pediatrician and allergist kept prescribing steroids to clear it up which made me nervous. We took him to see Dr. Roxanne Abitbol at South Nassau Dermatology. They have offices in Levittown, Oceanside and Long Beach. She was so nice and gentle with him, and prescribed something that was non-steroidal that cleared it up very quickly. I was really happy with them.

Thanks for the recommedation.
Do you remember the name of the non-steroidal cream? I also don't like the idea of using steroid creams on DS's skin. I want so badly for his skin to get better.

We have used Dr. Kristal in Setauket. He is wonderful, but there may be a wait.

We use Dr. Hayman from the same practice. Its not as long of a wait if you go to Lake Success, but he was totally worth the wait.

My son sees Dr. Koss in Smithtown. He uses Locoid Lipocream for his flare ups and Neosalus foam as a daily preventative.

We usd Dr. Kristal and Dr. Hayman. My DD eczema was so bad she was ripping apart her face. It was cured in 3 days after seeing him. SHe was a new child! Well worth the wait. They do have hours in Setuket/StonyBrook once a week.

Can you guys share your treatments as well?
I want to try to be well informed when I meet with them so we can discuss options. TIA!
