Can you recommend your OB/GYN affiliated with Stony Brook?
Its open enrollment time and we are electing my insurance and while I love my OB/GYN they ONLY deliver out of SB if you are high-risk otherwise its a St Catherines. So, I have to pick a new Dr.
If we do decide to go for #2 eventually, I want nothing to do with St Cats, it was miserable and would like to deliver out of Stony Brook. A practice anywhere from Smithtown to Setauket would be OK.
Since all of you have delivered babies before, I figured you were the ladies to ask!
Thanks!

I switched from CWC @ St Cats to University OB/GYN @ SB. VERY happy with the switch.
If/when there's another baby, I'll likely use the SB midwives.

do you have their contact info or any Drs names? On the site, it is just giving me the dept chair and such, not really office info.
Thanks!

Re: Can you recommend your OB/GYN affiliated with Stony Brook?
perfect thanks! And Im assuming SB Midwives are through them also? I had contacted SBMWs when I was PG with Eddie but was too paranoid my first pregnancy. I was thinking of using them next time too.
Thanks Nicole!

Re: Can you recommend your OB/GYN affiliated with Stony Brook?
yes, the MWs are there, too.
I wasn't planning a natural birth, but i had a failed epi and ended up delivering with no pain meds. The on-call MW heard of my situation and took it upon herself to pop in. She REALLY helped me out with positioning, breathing, etc. Just a genuinely caring person.

I go there as well. and I loved delivering at SB!
When I came in to get my sutures out after my csection, all the receptionists saw me walk in and were so excited, they really get to know you.
although, Dr. Porte from Stony Brook OBGYN was on call for 3 Village when I went into labor so he delivered DD, I would recommend him as well. If I didn't love Dr. Shoenfeld at 3 Village so much I would switch.

I see Dr. Johnson as well. I love her and she was my doctor for both my kids.
She went to 80% though and is very hard to get an appointment with. You have to be willing to see other doctors during you pregnancy or make your appts 2 months in advance especially if you work and your schedule is not very flexible.

I recommended Dr. Johnson to Nic, and I love Dr. Johnson! It is a little hard to get appts w/ her (esp. if you are not PG), but generally I like all of the drs. there. I saw one while PG who I really didn't like, but they got rid of her.

Re: Can you recommend your OB/GYN affiliated with Stony Brook?
She is the best! I absolutely LOVE her! She is in the office of 4 Tech Drive which is such a nicer and less hectic office. I also love her nurse, Donna.
I have recommended her to so many people, and not 1 person has ever complained her about her, I have no idea how you could.
I am at the end of my pregnancy and I see her 2 times a month now and I always look forward to my visits.

During this pregnancy, I have only seen Dr. Johnson, she tells you to make appts ahead of time, she will put it on the paper she gives to you when you leave. I have been making 4 - 5 appts at once during this entire pregnancy. That helps alot.
