Can you return a gift card?

Let me preface this by saying my DH is NOT a shopper. He will buy the first thing he sees, at the first store he goes to, even if the store next door has the same item for hundreds of dollars less.

So, he got me a gift card to a jewelry store that I am not really happy with (it is a mall jewelry store). I know I could get the same type of item I would buy there in Macys with a coupon for much less! Or in the Diamond District where it would be much better quality, etc. He included the receipt with the gift card.

Do you think they will allow me to "return" the gift card? Has anyone ever done that before?

I don't think so. But if you can't use it, save it for the holidays and buy someone else a gift with it.

there is a giftcard swap website
you can also sell it at a very small discount on ebay

You can sell it or, with the holidays coming, maybe get gifts for other people.

I agree with the others...sell it. I've sold gift cards on Craigslist...

they normally sell in less then 20 minutes
