Can you take a cab to Atlantis from cruise ship?
We are doing the Disney cruise in November and have a day at Nassau. The prices for the excursions are ridiculous!
Has anyone just taken a cab to Atlantis?
We do not need to go to the beach or pool at Atlantis. Would like to walk around aquarium and eat lunch.

You can - you can also take a water taxi (that's what we did).

How far is the water taxi area from the actual port?
I think the kids would like to ride a water taxi.
We have been to the Bahamas a few times and don't remember all this sketchiness that I keep reading about. We stayed at Atlantis and went to the town and straw market.

Has anyone been to Blue Lagoon at Nassau?
http://www.bahamasbluelagoon.com/
They have both sea lion and dolphin encounters for kids. Think the boys would really love the 15 min dolphin encounter. Prices aren't crazy either.

Yes, we went twice. It has a very nice little beach protected from waves. Kids were too young to do the animal encounters... But the ones for teens w Dolphins looked awesome. We just enjoyed it w a bucket of beer. Def more reasonable than Atlantis (you can take a cab, but will need a pass to go to aquarium).

I can't believe the prices they are charging for the Atlantis excursion. $178 per adult and $125 per child. That would be over $600 for our family of 4. That is insane for a pool and beach day. We stayed at a suite at the Cove, the supposed nicest hotel at Atlantis, for that price. No way I am paying more to just hang out at the waterpark and beach without the room!

Isn't there an excursion offered for just The Dig? (the aquarium). I thought I saw that for less $$ than the full aqua adventure excursion.

I just booked this excursion for our upcoming ncl cruise. If you look on cruise critic there is a review on ncl board with tons of pictures. Looks like a fun day. Lately we have been staying on ship in Nassau but I like the idea of 1 extra beach day. About $200 for excursion on NCL for 4 of us.

My original question was if we could just take a cab and walk around Atlantis for free, including the Dig for free. I was thinking of eating at the restaurant right on top of the Dig. It sits right on top and has an entrance to the Dig. I remember the kids going up and down to look at the fish while we were eating there.
I can't remember if they checked key cards at the entrance of the Dig aquarium. I could swear they only asked for key cards at the beach and pool access points but can't say for certain.

from what i remember it was under a bridge and we walked down a dirt road, under a bridge to get to the water taxi. my dh and i did it for the experience but we found leaving atlantis overall unfriendly and creepy. maybe water taxi one way and cab back.

I've been to Blue Lagoon, it's nice. We've usually done an excursion thru the ship so they have a boat at the end of the port to bring you over.

Do you know how much just the aquarium is?
I am looking at the Atlantis website and can't find pricing.

I can't believe how much they charge at Atlantis for non-guests. The aquarium is nice. We used to go daily when we stayed there but it is not worth $40.
We will probably go to the Bahamas again next spring. I would much prefer to just stay at the resort and use their amenities.

Re: Can you take a cab to Atlantis from cruise ship?
Some people from cruise book a room & then use it to have access to Atlantis. They check out when heading back to cruise. When I did the math, maybe you end up saving a few dollars, but the stress of checking in & out would be annoying.
They closed one of the restaurants that led to the dig at the end of my last trip.
There are security ppl everywhere to be sure people from cruises don't go anywhere.
I agree though: not worth the $$$ of the excursion, esp for kids!

You do not have to physically check out at the Comfort Suites (if that is what you are talking about). If you have a CC on file, there is no need to do that.

Good point: comfort suites has full access. The people I saw doing this stayed at Atlantis (beach part). It's something to price out. Checking in & out of Atlantis itself was a PITA when I stayed there.

DH does remember needing to wave our room key around at various places throughout the resort. I don't remember this at all. Selective memory I guess.
We are fine with not going to Atlantis. Maybe we should just stay on the boat. That is what we did last time. I think we hung out at the pool and DS rode the slide over and over again with no wait.

I would definitely just stay on the boat during Nassau. We just did that and the boat was pretty empty in the morning. We got up early, and had the pools and Aquaduck to ourselves for a bit!
A few hours later and this pool looked like the pool in Diary of a Wimpy Kid LOL!!

Do you recall how deep that pool is?
My 6yo is a beginner swimmer and no longer wears floaties.
Now I am leaning towards staying on the boat. We are on a 3 night cruise so we don't have a sailing day to enjoy all the amenities.
Also, do you mean that the pool was very very crowded later on the day? Sorry, I am not familiar with the Wimpy Kid books.
