The Donald pool is 5 feet. I would not allow your child in that pool if he isn't a strong swimmer while it's crowded. There is a lifeguard, but it gets jam packed with people making it hard to keep track of your own...even though it's small.
Yes, that pool was VERY crowded!! Tons of people, body to body. The Mickey pool gets the same way though, but is only 2 feet! Then when someone gets sick in it, or poops (which shouldn't happen because you have to be potty trained to use it)....then they drain it and refill which takes hours, so even MORE people head into the deeper pool. Honestly that's my only gripe with DCL, the size of the pools. So it's better to use them on "off peak" hours. In the early morning, on port days or during dinner/shows!

I am assuming there will be a lot more kids when we go this time since it will be Thanksgiving. Our last trip was in May when the school kids were in school. There were barely any school aged kids, mostly toddlers and preschoolers and the pool was busy but doesn't sound like your description.
OK, we will just stay on the ship and enjoy all the activities onboard. We have already been to the Bahamas and will go again in the near future.
