Yeah i was going to post. No more knockoffs! (at least until they start again)
They confiscated $1M worth!!!!!
It doesn't really bother me though. its illegal, and I don't really see the point of them.
I'd rather buy a cheaper brand bag that mimics the style, than a counterfeit.

Really, I actually prefer the excitement of walking into D&G or Bvlgari and buying the real thing, rather than supporting an illegal business. I find that it's mostly tourists and out-of-towners who go crazy down there.

I agree.
I personally don't (knowingly) support illegal businesses either so I don't feel bad about the raid.
If I can't afford the real thing, or a legal one of something real, then I don't get it.

On Fox 5 news this morning they were debating..... does knock-off clothes like ABS by Allen Schwartz which are copies of designer gowns like from the Oscars would be the same thing.
Why cant someone copy LV or Gucci bags and sell them cheaper? They are usually VERY easy to tell they are not real anyway.
Just throwing it out there.

not only are fakes illegal, but they are made by childern in horrible conditions
they are wrong on so many levels- I would be happy to help the NYPD find all of the back rooms in China town that sell the "good" fakes

ABS interpets high end designers- he doesn't mirror image knock them off
and clothing is trade marked
the LV logo, Gucci Logo etc are trademarks
there are tons of fakes that are very hard to tell the difference
my cousin bought a pair of Chanel sunglasses from canel street that looked exactly like my $400 real pair- they even fooled me and I am a FIT grad and I re-sell real designer bags on ebay- so I know my stuff

There's a difference between clothes/handbags that are inspired by designers and actually copying clothing/handbags right down to their trademarks.

I agree. target and other retailers are not trying to pass something off as the real thing and steal from designers, they're interpreting the style. It's a totally different market, and it's not counterfeit. All of fashion is inspired by other fashion, but that's not the same as an exact copy and copying logos, etc.

I hate walking around down there and having the guys approaching me on the street. It reminds me of my college days walking through Washington Square park and guys would approach you trying to sell weed.
