Can't believe we are leaving in 2 weeks-- PARIS, ATHENS, SANTORINI
Any places that are not as obvious that we shouldn't miss??
We have two days in Paris, two days in Athens and 5 days in Santorini.
Thanks!

While the Louvre is wonderful, it is daunting and huge. You will never get to see everything. If you are going to go to a museum I reccomend the Musee d'Orsay instead. The setting is beautful and it has more contemporary art. more impressionits, neo-impressionits...
Printemps is the big department store there, you have to check it out and stroll down the Champs Elysées.
Check out the latin quarter too....
Wear comfy shoes in paris...you will walk a lot!!!

Re: Can't believe we are leaving in 2 weeks-- PARIS, ATHENS, SANTORINI
been to all of those places and my favorite is Santorini! It is GORGEOUS! We did wine tasting in Oia which was a lot of fun and REALLY good! Ate delicious Baklava overlooking the sea-simply beautiful!
Athens,we did the "touristy" stuff-which was great-it gets hot, take water with you!
Paris- It was a long time ago- so much to do depending on what you're interested in- Shopping , crepes on the street ,Louvre
Have a fabulous time!

While at Versailles, be sure to wander over to Le Petit Trianon. The first time I went to Versailles, I missed b/c we only stayed by the main house. I found out about the next time I went from a family friend who lives in Paris. As you wander over there, you'll pass the most romantic little gazebo (in my dream world, I would've gotten married there!!). Le Petit Trianon was Marie Antoinette's "little" playhouse. It's full of genuine charm!
Also, make sure to wander around Mon Martre and the Saint Germain (great for going out at night!).
It sounds like a wonderful trip!! Have a great time

Have a wonderul time. In Athens, we enjoyed walking around the plaka (marketplace) at night. It's touristy, but nice.
Where will you be in Santorini? If you're not staying in Oia, make sure to go there one day to see the sunset. In Oia, we loved walking down the 100+ steps to the Amoudi Harbor. We walked around the harbor, and there's an area where people go swimming. The water is so calm and refreshing. We also enjoyed eating at Ambrosia. The food was very good and the view was great.

I am all over it-- I read her biography a few months ago and I cannot wait to see everything there after reading it.. So excited!

Re: Can't believe we are leaving in 2 weeks-- PARIS, ATHENS, SANTORINI
Here's some stuff I used when in France from Rick Steve's Guides: 1 Day: Morning: Follow the book's Champs-Elysées Walk from Arc de Triomphe down the grand avenue des Champs-Elysées to Tuileries Garden.
Midday: Cross the pedestrian bridge from the Tuileries Garden, then tour the Orsay Museum.
Afternoon: Tour the Rodin Museum or Napoleon's Tomb, or visit Versailles (take the RER suburban train direct from Orsay).
Evening: Enjoy the Trocadéro scene and a twilight ride up the Eiffel Tower.
Athens: Athens' top two sights, the Acropolis and the National Archaeological Museum, each require half a day to do justice. Two days is plenty of time to see the city's main attractions.
Day One: Spend the morning following the introductory Athens walk. Spend mid-day in the markets (shopping in the Plaka, browsing in the Central Market, and through the flea market). Grab a souvlaki lunch near Monastiraki. After lunch, do the ancient biggies — touring the Ancient Agora then the Acropolis (confirming carefully how late the Acropolis is open). Be the last person off the Acropolis. Stroll the Dionissiou Areopagitou into the Plaka for your evening meal and music.
Day Two: Spend the morning visiting museums or exploring and browsing the Plaka. After lunch, head out to the National Archaeological Museum.

It was about 20-30 minutes by train. We were there in November and they were doing renovations in the Hall of Mirrors, but it was still

I think it took about 30 minutes. We rented bikes at Versailles and it was great! It's a bit of a hike between Petit Trinon and the Main Palace so the bike was perfect. But we made the mistake of biking all the way around the Grand Canal...it's really big and wasn't really worth it at the other end.
We had the Paris Museum Pass so we skipped the lines at most places--definitely recommend that.
Have a great trip!
