Cape May vs Wildwood and then DC

Which would you visit for just 2 - 3 nights with kids ages 10-13?We are planning to go to the jersey shore and then drive down to DC for another 2 nights.

I know there is a boardwalk and amusement park at wildwood. BF is concerned that the kids will get bored? I guess if we stayed where there is a pool that would be nice.

The kids would be more bored in Cape May IMO.
Cape May is nice, but there isn't much for kids to do other than the beach/pool. It's a lot of historic homes, tours, shops, etc.

There is a great zoo that is free but you still have to drive there even if you stay in Cape May- so you might as well stay in Wildwood and go visit the zoo if you want to and make a day trip out of that and seeing Cape May for a bit.

Wildwood at least has the boardwalk, all the rides, they have water parks too on the boardwalk.
Plus the beach and a pool at your hotel, and
I can't imagine they'd be bored there.

Your kids will not be bored at Wildwood. Morey's Piers has three piers full of rides, and 2 waterparks on the piers. Plus there is the beach. I would look into staying at a Morey's Resort, because then you can purchase the "stay and play passes" good for unlimited rides, waterparks at all of the piers for the length of your stay. They are $$$ otherwise. I recommend the Starlux Hotel. It's updated in a retro theme. Super cute!
