Anyone ever been? Looking for hotels and the best time of year to travel there. Thanks!

Captiva & Sanibel
I stayed at the Sanibel Inn (part of the Inns of Snible group). when I went (2008), the rooms were newly renovated and had little kitchenettes (microwave, frige). Its right on the beach, they had a nice pool and bikes available to use. Its not a fancy resort, but very nice. I went in January- which is not really ideal - the weather was very nice, but a little bit on the chilly side (ok to be out in a t-shirt, but a little cold to go swimming). I loved Sanibel and would love to go back some day.

I visited Sanibel in either March or April but i can't remember exactly. It was definitely warm enough for the beach. Love it there. We stayed with friends so I can't help you with hotels. Jealous though!

We're thinking of either late March or early April. I hear this is one of the nicest times in the area. Glad to hear it was warm enough for the beach. I was thinking it might be too chilly.

We went a few years ago and stayed at the Sanibel Inn as well. It was a lovely little hotel, I'd definitely stay there again.
We went in May, and it was the perfect time to go. The winter crowds were gone, and the summer heat hadnt arrived yet.

Tweenwaters was awesome...it's between Captiva and Sanibel! We went in July and it was ridiculously hot.
