Car Accident
So I was driving last night with my bf in the car and I got into a minor accident. No one was hurt thank goodness.
What happened was I was in the right lane and made a right (into the right lane) and the car on my left made an illegal right (and turned into the left lane) So after we turned there was a car stopped in the left lane and the illegal turned tried to get around him and cut out of the lane and hit my car! 
So I start telling (eh who am I kidding) telling my bf to call the cops especially since it was a livery cab that hit me and I didn't think he was going to stop! So we call the cops and waited almost 2 hours. In that time think I hit every emotion panic (I was shaking like a leaf), sad (almost crying on the phone telling my mom and dad what happened), anger at the guy for trying to push me and make me look like a fool for wanting to go thru insurance, and then relaxed.
Yeah I was relaxed until the cops got there and asked us what happened, I gave my side and then the other guy completely twisted the story to and said it was my fault and the car in front of me stopped and I hit his car!!! So we go into our cars and wait for the cops to write the report and give us our papers. When I tell you I got upset then furious all at once. Oh man, I was ******. How are you going to say that I hit you when the only way that was possible was if I stopped and drove BACKWARDS!!! So the whole time the guy and his friends were standing around laughing and making fun of us for taking pix of my car and stuff!
Little did he know the joke was on him! So the cop that took the statements went to talk to the other guy and the female cop comes to my car and tells me how to get the report and I was like can I ask you a question. I asked her what do I do if his statement makes no sense and isn't what happens. She cut me off there and said come look at this. I get out and she literally calls the guy an ahole. And shows me the report and said I have nothing to worry about. The report literally said the other car was at fault (I won't bore you with the details.) And the other guy got 2 summons (illegal turn and no hack license!!) Then they both reassured me that he is 100% at fault and I am fine. Whew!
So yes, that is my wonderful evening. Sorry if I bored you with the details but I just needed to get that out. I was soo mad! Oh and yes I  NYPD!

I'm so glad you're okay!
I had an accident where I did NOTHING wrong - someone ran a stop sign and crashed into me doing 30mph. Even though I didn't do a thing wrong, I was still at a small percentage of fault. Both cars were moving.
iIn an accident when both cars are moving, it doesn't matter who the person at fault is. No one is ever 100% not at fault.

Thank you ladies. I am headed to the body shop now. Fun fun fun.
And a side note to nyteacher. I understand completely what you mean. This also happened to me and my bf in 2005. We had no stop sign and some woman ran the stop sign and my bf got blamed 15%. Sorry that happened to you too!!

Sorry you had to deal with that but that is great how helpful the NYPD cops were to you. Glad you are okay. Where do you live and where did the accident happen?

I live on Staten Island and that is where this happened as well.

Not a lot of damage thankfully. But the body shop said its going to be a fight to get the cabs insurance to pay. He says it usually takes a long time. Just wonderful right?!?
