car accident and a leased car
I was in an accident with my leased car this week. I am not sure how this goes because it is a lease. The insurance company isnt going to look at it until next friday, there is a lot of damage, but not sure if they are going to total it. The car is supposed to go back in a couple months. I am just not sure what I am supposed to do, do I contact the lean holder or does the insurance company?

Re: car accident and a leased car
i think the inusrance company takes care of everything- they know who the lien holder is.

Re: car accident and a leased car
I totalled my leased 4Runner and the Ins. paid off the lease and I got a nice check for the value of the 4runner!

Re: car accident and a leased car
There is nothing to be done...the insurance company will pay to repair the car and when you turn it in it should be fine. There is no reason for the lien holder to know the car was in an accident.
ETA: If the car is totalled, they will pay off the lease and you will get any leftover.

Re: car accident and a leased car
A few months ago I was in a bad accident with my leased car. My insurance took care of everything, but I had the car fixed through the car manufacterer, b/c I wanted the car to be fixed the right way...I didn't want any trouble when it came time to give in back.
I just traded the car in a few weeks back and I was honest that the car had been hit, and the people at the dealership were very impressed with how well the car was fixed, so they didn't hold it against me or penalize me in any way
