car loans
Can you name some of the best places to get one? I need one for a used car for 72 months. We can't go with a credit union because they only do loans up to 60 months. The rate we got was 8.9% and that just seems too high!!! Any suggestions as to where else we can go? Thanks!

Re: car loans
AAA gave me a great rate, but then Honda matched it.

8.9% is high! I work for a credit union, and we do car loans up to 7 years depending on the loan amount. 6 & 7 year loans are 5.74% at my credit union. It also depends on your credit rating. FM if you want.
ETA: This is for new & used car rates...both are the same.

I just checked their site, it looks like they use Capital one Auto Finance like someone else mentioned.
I don't know what the current used car rates are, but for $45 a year (pretty sure thats what I paid) membership it might be worth it! LINK
8.9% seems high BUT used car rates are higher than new. Pretty sure our new car rate was 2.9%
ETA: Actaully I tried to cut and paste this from their site, lets see how it looks:
Today's AAA Discounted APR's3 as low as: 30-36 mos. 37-60 mos. 61-72 mos. New Dealer 5.94% 6.20% 6.54% Used Dealer 6.50% 6.80% 7.34% Refinance 7.15% 7.15% 7.65% Lease Buyout 7.70% 8.20% 8.80% Person-To-Person 8.20% 8.40% 9.20%

Re: car loans
I'm not sure, but this is why we ended up with a new car when we went for a used one. We were going to get slammed with a 13% rate for the used car (we're young, short credit history), but we got a promotional rate of 3% on a new car, making it a lot more affordable in the long run.

That's an amazing rate! Can you say which credit union? The best rate my credit union had for the last year was 5.84% (and that was getting a % discount for direct payment).

Sure, Nassau Educators FCU. 5.74% is if your credit rating is 750 or better. The rate doesn't change that drastically if it's lower though.
We even have a promo going on right now where you get .25% off of that rate.
