Car rear-end. What happens to car seats?

My car got hit from behind this morning. The girl who hit me was probably going 10 mph. Little to no car damage to my CR-V, but is it safe to keep the car seats? Thankfully the kids are fine!

Her insurance should reimburse you to replace them.

The only manufacturer to follow NHTSA's minor crash replacement guidelines is Britax (that you see around here anyways)

* The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site;
* The vehicle door nearest the safety seat was not damaged;
* There were no injuries to any of the vehicle occupants;
* The air bags (if present) did not deploy; AND
* There is no visible damage to the safety seat.

Any seat other than a Britax needs to be replaced in ANY crash.

I'd get the new car seats b/c you are entitled but still use the other ones. Something similar happened to my IL's when DD/DS were in the car. IL's were making a right into parking lot & car behind them tapped them, going about 10 mph, no damage, but still got new carseats.

That is insurance fraud.

Most insurers will request the old seats be given to them to ensure that this situation isn't happening.

They usually allow you to keep the covers though, so if you are getting the same seat it's good to keep the cover as a backup

I was rear ended on the LIE in traffic and the guy behind me had Geico and they paid to replace my car seat a Britax Boulevard (and they never asked for the old one either).
