Car Rental Prices
I've never rented a car before - do the prices fluctuate significantly like airline prices. I am going to CA in Sept and we are going to rent a car for the week. Not sure if it makes sense to start looking into it now or hold off - any car rental advice?
TIA!

Re: Car Rental Prices
If you see a dcenet rate you can always book it now. If a better price comes along you can book that and cancel the frst one. I find that the prices drop significantly if you want until closer to the time you need them. We're going to Florida in June and I haven't booked a car yet because the priuces are WAY higher then what I've paid the past 2 years.

Re: Car Rental Prices
Also - if you belong to BJs or Costco - on their site you can find member discounts and coupons for different rental car companies.
I usually end up renting with Alamo.

Yes - if you go to their website and look under travel - they have their rental car codes/coupons there.

Re: Car Rental Prices
most companies allow you book without a credit card. i usually book a few different ones and then cancel all but the best one right before my trip. i would def book some now and then keep checking rates.
and if you are a member at costco or bj, def go through their website and see what rates you get with the codes they give you.

Re: Car Rental Prices
I just did this. I went through Costco and other sites and the best deal was through AAA. I got a 5 day rental midsized for $199. Inclusive of all taxes and fees. The base rate was $28 per day but when you add all the other taxes and surcharges that's what it came to.
