car repair question???
a rock hit my windshiled, and I now have a nice crack that is spreading...is having your windshield replaced a fairly universal price, or are there less expensive shops? if anyone can recommend a place I'd really appreciate it...I live in Huntington and work in Ronkonkoma, so anywhere around there I guess....
TIA!

What kind of deductable do you have for glass on your insurance? DH used a place that came right to his office and did the work in the parking lot! It was great! Let me see if I can find out the name for you.

Re: car repair question???
if you have glass coverage on your insurance policy, you probably have a $0 deductible. Some companies will come to you and either repair or replace the windshield depending on how big the crack is.. Safelite i know for sure will come to you..i cant think of any others right now.. 1800-800-asap

Re: car repair question???
Not sure how much a windshield is now w/o glass coverage but if you need a good mechanic, I finally found a great one in Huntington...FM me. I pass multiple gas stations to get to this guy..
My windshield was done by Safelite in Northport when I had this happen to me.

I have glass coverage, but it's included in my comprehensive coverage, and that has a $500 deductible...

Re: car repair question???
are you sure its a 500 ded for glass, or is it just for comp? Call your company to be sure.. I work for an insurance company and usually on the policy it would say 500 ded w/glass but it could be full glass covg- no deductible.. what company do you have?

it's GMAC, I called them and asked what my glass coverage was and the person I spoke to told me that it's included in my comprehensive, and that my comprehensive has a $500 deductible....should I call back and ask if the glass itself has a deductible?
ETA: I just called, I have a $500 deductible that I have to pay...d@mn it.

Re: car repair question???
This happened to me when I was in college. All my window were smashed and i had a 500 deductible. Ever since then I have made sure that my glass coverage was separate and had no deductible I think we pay $50 a year for it. There are ways to repair a window without replacing it. Call Safelite and ask. Good luck
