Car seat H E L L need advice (oh, and we're back from our week in Nantucket!!)
So ladies... we went away this week to Nantucket. I will post some pictures later. It's been a H E L L ride there and home.
Bella HATES the car seat! And I'm talking hyperventalating screams the MINUTE you put her in. We literally drove over 2 hours with her screaming like this. Ferry after ferry and screaming. It's MISERABLE. The SECOND you take her out... she smiles and giggles.
Has anyone gone through anything like this where their baby HATED the car seat? She won't sleep, we have toys, we have the mirror, we feed before, we feed after, we change diapers, I sit back there with her, we do it ALL and NOTHING works.
Do you think it could be the actual seat?
We are all at a complete loss as to what's making her this way and I'm looking for ANY sort of advice (or sympathy )
Other than that - Nantucket was AMAZING!!! I'll post pics (like I said) later...

Welcome Back!! Offering hugs....Tyler sometimes wants to be fed in the carseat when we drive....I am sure you have already tried it though. Did you try those belt covers...I have some from BRU that make the seatbelt part soft...maybe that is irritating her??

My DD cried in the car seat pretty much for the first 3 months. I think she just hated being confined and not being held. She did outgrow it but it took a long while.
It couldn't hurt to try another car seat but don't be surprised if you just have to wait it out.
Glad you had fun on your vacay. Looking forward to seeing pics.

DD hates her carseat also. She was fine in the infant seat, but now that she is in the convertible, she cries and arches her back when I'm trying to buckle her in and does the same when I'm trying to unbuckle her. Fortunately she doesn't really cry during the ride, it's just frustrating putting her in and taking her out, especially when we are just running in somewhere.

Thanks! We actually took the covers off because they were up against her face (she's getting so BIG!) so... I have NO clue what's the prob. You-know-who's bringing another seat home from work and we're going to see if that helps

I'm so sorry you went through this. I guess its the confinement. DD hates when we put the straps on her, but then usually passes out in the car once we start moving. Do you have toys hanging over her? Music may help too.

Re: Car seat H E L L need advice (oh, and we're back from our week in Nantucket!!)
Chelle - I just went through this two weeks ago with Jack. He was miserable in the infant car seat. I was constantly pulling over to pull him out bc he was purple and basically gagging all the time.
I switched him into the Marathon and it has been 100 times better. Of course he gets fussy when he's tired or hungry but now he just sits there and doesn't make a peep.
I was so scared before - driving like a lunatic from place to place bc I knew a meltdown was on the way. The switch has made everything ALOT better!

Re: Car seat H E L L need advice (oh, and we're back from our week in Nantucket!!)
In the beginning, both of my kids hated the car seat but quickly adjusted to it (within a week). They always screamed while being buckled but once they were in, they were fine.
Only things I can think of as to why she would scream so long:
1- Sun is in her eyes? 2 - Metal part of the buckle heated up? 3 - Hungry? 4 - Diaper change? 5 - didn't like being alone?
I would try putting her in while she's in the house often to get her used to it. That way she's in a familiar environment.

We have done it all Seriously, everything all you ladies have mentioned, we've done. I'm thinking it's the confinment issue. I notice her always wanting to pull herself up while she's sitting (she's quite the determined little girl) and I think that having the straps on her prevents her from doing that and she freaks. Also, not being held. SO...
We're going to try a new seat and see if that make s difference.
Ugh... I won't EVER put her back in it!!!
