Re: Car seat protector?

I think I read a post here some time ago. Someone had their car seat inspection and were told not to use one, for safety purposes. Maybe there's a chance the car seat can slip with it on? I'm not sure but I remember reading that. Also they said not to use the mirror in the back that would allow to see your rear facing baby by looking in your rear view mirror. Another safety thing. Besides the fact that you may be distracted looking at your baby when you should be driving, in an accident the mirror can become a projectile object which could cause injury. Another thing they said was don't use the sunshade with the suction cups for the same reason. It can come off in an accident. They said to use the one that clings to the window. My daughter is pregnant and we are looking into all these things now also.

Re: Car seat protector?

I know one of the issues with some of those protectors is that they can provide a false sense of security that the seat is properly installed and tightened.

Basically, the rule of thumb is that if it didn't come with the seat you really shouldn't use it. There should be nothing extra placed between the carseat and vehicle seat or between the baby and the carseat.

In general, no, a carseat should not ruin your interior. Even leather seats eventually will puff back out if there are indentations.

Re: Car seat protector?

Car Protectors should never be used - EVER

For rear facing seats the impeade the proper movement of the seat in a crash, and for forward facing they interfere with the proper instalation.

Re: Car seat protector?

I was also worried about ruining my car since DH & I have leather interiors/ luxury cars Chat Icon
but you car will be ruined one way or another. Toddlers kick the back of the seats with muddy shoes, throw spitty crackers on the seats & floor. I just can't imagine our cars not taking some abuse.
