Car seats & leather interior

Everyone is telling DH and I to be careful about the leather seats in my car when we install the car seat. Any suggestions on how to protect the seats???

there is a protective mat thing sold in places BUT the car seats are not safety tested using those mats so you reduce safety by not installing directly on the leather.

i have leather seats and they are still in perfect condition. they shouldn't get ruined because of a car seat. those mats aren't safe in an accident. honestly, you're going to have a car seat in your car for about 5 years--by that point you might be selling the car or not care anymore anyway.

DH has leather seats in his car and the carseat doesnt seem to be causing any damage as of yet. There is a mat that you can buy to protect it but when we went to have carseat installed they wouldnt do so with the mat because it wasnt crash tested with the carseat itself. HTH.
