Carbon Monoxide Detectors (had a fright)
hey everyone. i just wanted to say i think if you dont have a carbon monoxide detector you should get one.
my family had a scare the other night.
my mom and dad are having alot of work done on the house and an electrician took down the upstairs c.m. detector.... well, my mom went to bed and she thought she smelled something funny.... (in her words " but we had chinese that night, so i thought it was maybe that" ) well, my dad woke up cuz he heard something coming from the basement. (my two sisters have their bedroom down in the basement) so, turns out it was the c.m. detector! the girls were sleeping right through it. thank god my dad heard it because i'd be an orphan! they had to evacuate and it was scary.
just wanted to say i think everyone should get one if you dont already have one. i am definatly going to get one now.

Re: Carbon Monoxide Detectors (had a fright)
Glad everyone is OK.
We bought them, but haven't put them up yet. I've been telling DH that he needs to put them up for last year.

Re: Carbon Monoxide Detectors (had a fright)
We have one on each level of our house. They can be a lifesaver because CO is non-detectable, you can't see it or smell it.

I am pretty sure it's a NYC law that every dwelling have them installed.
I am glad everything was ok.

Re: Carbon Monoxide Detectors (had a fright)
we have 2 of them. This is because my family had a scare a few years ago..turns out the boiler in the basement went, and it set off the CM detectors.
The reading was really high, good thing we had one! It was very scary though! We were told not to put it in the bedroom, as it is too close. We were told to put them in the hallways like where we would put the SMoke Detectors, so you would get a warning before it hits your bedroom.
Its a great investment & it offers peace of mind!

We have one but I made DH move it out of the bedroom because the little red light looked like a laser beam and freaked me out. I am glad we have it though.

We have 4: basement, garage, hallway near the bedrooms and kitchen area.
Our's went off once (due to the fireplace.) They definitely work!
