Career fair

I saw an ad in the NY times ages ago about a career fair on March 10, 2007. It said you had to be invited.. it's a western suffolk location, diverse educator fair. I haven't got an invite and haven't heard or seen anything else about it. Does anyone know anything?

Re: Career fair

I just got my invitation for it yesterday. It is by invite only, but you had to send them your resume and certification.

Re: Career fair

I also sent my resume and cert. Do you mind me asking what your certifications are... I'm eled.. which is why I'm assuming I didn't get an invite. Are there any more career fairs coming up?

Honestly, I went to a few career fairs last year and did not find any of them to be worthwhile. Good luckChat Icon

even though they could be a waste of time, you never know. the exposure is the most important thing with looking for a teaching job.

i got a second interview from the Nassau Diversity Fair and it went well. Definitely not a waste of time there.

Re: Career fair

I know. I hate saying a "waist of time" but if I could be working PT that day or actually seeing my husband as apposed to a hopefully interview, I'd skip it.

I went to that one years ago and found it to be a complete waste of time in my opinion. I was Elem. Ed Cert and nobody wanted to deal wth a general cert. I will be done with my Master's in April in TESOL. It was worth it for me to get it in something marketable. Chat Icon

I'm actually going back for my ESL certifciation.. I'm waiting to be based in NY so I can go back to Hofstra. TESOL is different from ESL? I see ESL ads all the time.. I'm hoping this will open more doors.
