Re: Career fairs ?
i haven't been to one in awhile, but i woudl say at least a few hours. it is your opportunity to research schools, talk to prinicpals, and often, they do interiews right on the spot. also, if it's a board of ed. fair, they are really and tons of people go, so you definitely need time.

Re: Career fairs ?
Anna - are you talking about the Dowling one? Their "fairs" are nothing more than going in and dropping off your resume into the folder of districts that have openings in your area. It took about 30 minutes when I did it. If the district wants to interview you, that is done on a different day entirely.

Re: Career fairs ?
thanks everyone .
karen- its not the Dowling one. the ad just titled "Career Fair" lists which districts are part of it. you need to apply to attend, and will be called if you are chosen to attend.

good to hear, because the Dowling one was a waste of time! or at least it was the year I went through it - it was horrible, so many districts pulled out due to budget problems.
good luck!!

if its the eastern suffolk BOCES one or the teachli one then what happens is they give out your resume prior to the fair. if the schools want you, they will notify you and they either set the time for you or you come in and set up times that morning.

Re: Career fairs ?
jennifer, yes, thats the one!
karen- I never went to the dowling one either. there were only 2-3 elementary positions at the time, and the districts were far from me, so it wasnt worth it.
thanks guys!
