carpet cleaning
anyone have opinions on what's best?
i'm moving into an apt with wall-to-wall carpets and since i will have two crawlers soon, i want to get the carpets cleaned. i'm concerned with steam cleaning, because of moisture and mold and chem dry, because of chemicals. are there other options?
any opinions appreciated. thanks!!

Re: carpet cleaning
We didnt't get our's professionally done. We bought a steam cleaner. I think it's fine just as long as you open up the windows and let it air out and dry.

Re: carpet cleaning
I use Thouro Carpet cleaners - I really like them. They are reasonably priced too! Their number is 631.884.8134.
They come to Seaford so I"m sure they will come to your new place!

Re: carpet cleaning
I have my own steam cleaner that I use once in a while. The carpet is totally dry in a few hours, and there isn't enough water to soak down to the padding, so mildew, moisture and mold isn't a problem.

Re: carpet cleaning
My husband and I have really bad reactions to mold and dust. We had our berber carpets cleaned by Stanley Steemer just a week ago and have had no symptoms. No sneezing, watery eyes, asthma attacks...
But I did have a reaction to a blanket that had been in storage for a while, so I know my mold allergy is active.

Re: carpet cleaning
My Husband works for Chemdry and the name is decieving. They actually use a citrus based cleaner. If you would like more info, I can ask him more about it and let you know. But He has done my house a bunch of times and of course I love how clean it is, but I too have a DD and like that is smells like oranges when he is done. FM me if you want.

Re: carpet cleaning
We've used Flag carpet in the past - I think they are in Lindenhurst. I need to do this too as my baby's about to start crawling too
I think as long as the carpet's are cleaned correctly, they won't be wet and soaked enough to get moldy. They should be dried enough to just be almost dry by the time they are done cleaning them. It shouldn't take much longer to air dry after they've cleaned them.

Re: carpet cleaning
We used Magic Wand cleaning (I think they are based in N. Babylon, we live in Lindy). He is a little pricy (IMO), but my carpets always look brand new when he is done, and his stuff is environmentally friendly, and he works pretty fast.
We cleaned ours when our after our DD started crawling/almost walking in Sept, and now they look due to be done again lol.
Good luck!

Re: carpet cleaning
I had my carpets done by Chem-Dry before I brought my infant home. They use all natural ingredients. Contact the company or look them up online to get info
