Carpet Removal - HELP!

We have carpet that is glued down to the concrete slab in our house. We tried to rip a little piece up last night to see how hard it will be and the glue sems pretty strong still. Does anyone have any ideas of making this easier?

They really need to come up this weekend because they really smell from the previous owners letting there dogs and cats pee on them. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon The smell was worse when we rip a little piece up even! Chat Icon

TIA!

Re: Carpet Removal - HELP!

My friend had this problem.
We got scrapers from HD and some kind of glue remover and just scraped it up bit by bit. It's a real ******, but your only other alternative is to have it professionally done.

This might seem like a pain in the a** but try using a hair dryer.... pull up a piece of the carpet then hit the bottom of it with the hair dryer........ it melts the glue and should come up fairly easy........ wear gloves and open the windows the glue is stinky sometimes....GL

Scraper with a long handle and lots of elbow grease. When DH and I bought our house we joked that every job required strenuous scraping.

OMG - I had to laugh and show this to my DH. We are in the middle of doing the same thing as we speak!!!!! Except, where our carpet isn't glued to the floor (there is plywood underneath) it is glued to the wall - because, Yes! Our carpet actually went up the wall about 10 inches. We have one piece left that just will not come off. Good luck to you and I mean when I say...

I feel your pain!
