Carseat on plane for toddler

I was wondering, when travelling with a toddler (29 months old) - we have to bring the carseat on the plane for Liam to be strapped into. How does the seat strap to the airplane seat? I'm a little nervous his seat will be too wide for the Aer Lingus plane seats. They are sooo narrow. His carseat is an Alpha Omega by Cosco.
Also, how does that count with the luggage? We have 1 suitcase for each of us, and DH and I will have 1 carryon each, plus my purse. Then we have the stroller and the carseat. Will they say no it's too much? And how do you transport the carseat after you check in? You have to carry it around the airport?

You don't HAVE to bring the seat. It is safer that way though. It should be FAA Approved for use on the plane otherwise you wont be allowed to use it. There should be a sticker on it saying it is approved. It straps in using the lap belt like you would using a car belt. When in doubt about the size call the airline! The boys' Britax Marathons fit on the plane seats. I can't imagine a seat being bigger than them! I am bringing the car seats for the boys to Disney in Car seat bags I bought at Walmart. I am checking Jeremys and bringing Lucas' on the plane with us for him to sit in. Southwest airlines allowed a car seat as just an item not as luggage. The double stroller is luggage but the gate checked umbrella stroller wont be. Call the airline, they are all different.

If he is over 2, does he get his own seat? If he does get his own seat, I wouldn't bother with the car seat, when I travel on BA with my son, he just sits in the seat with his seat belt on.
