Re: Carseat Registry Question

I didn't register for the convertible one today and on our way out I was talking to a mom and she said ABSOLUTELY register for it because the infant seat only holds the baby up until they are 25-30 pounds and that comes and goes SO fast so You'll need the convertible one sooner rather than later. I'll stick it on the next time we go.

Don't feel greedy!Chat Icon

Re: Carseat Registry Question

We registered for a convertible seat even though we knew we wouldnt' need it right away. We also didn't need the high chair right away, but put that on the registry too!
Actually, now that I think of it, a lot of the stuff on the registry isn't used right awy, so don't worry about it!

Just make sure you register for 2 if you have 2 cars...we forgot and had to go get a new one for Lily today. They're expensive!!

Re: Carseat Registry Question

was just going to say the same thing about registering for 2 if you have 2 cars.....we registered for 1, afor the same reason...i felt like it was greedy and asking for too much to register for even the 1 expensive one...and then i realized after the fact that most people do register for both, and a lot register for 2 of the second one! congrats on registering!! its so much fun (and a bit overwhelming!)...

And I didn't, and my DS was out of the infant and into the convertable between 5 and 6 months. I really wish I had registered for it.

Re: Carseat Registry Question

I did. I think you definitely should. You will need it eventually and some kids outgrow their infant car seats faster than others. It's up to you though especially since now the infant car seats have higher weight limits.

Definitely register for a convertible car seat as wellChat Icon

ETA: I would register for 2 and it is up to your guests whether they want to buy it or not. Your not forcing them to buy you anything. It wont make you seem like a greedy personChat Icon
Most of them have been there, so they understand the reasons behind registering for duplicates of items, especially 2 car seats and extra bases for the infant seat

Re: Carseat Registry Question

We registered for both car seats. If someone bought them for us, great. If not, at least we can use the completion coupon to get 10% off of them.

Re: Carseat Registry Question

Yah.... I registered for my travel system, and my convertible seat as well.

I didn't get my convertible, but it's all good. Hopefully there is no issue with me getting the 15% discount coupon from BRU after the baby gets here, and I'll use that to go make all my big purchases....

All discounts count IMO...

I registered for a travel system and TWO other carseats for my car and DH's. We got them all which will save us money in the long run. I would totally do it.

Re: Carseat Registry Question

Definitely register for it!!

Anyone who knows anything about kids realize infant seats don't last all that long.

We registered for the Britax Roundabout (I think it's about $240).

What's the worst that could happen? Someone doesn't buy it for you?

Go for it!!! Chat Icon

Re: Carseat Registry Question

Yes, put them both on there! I wasn't sure anyone would get it - but from registry peeking I see someone bought my Marathon. Now I just need someone to get the snugride!

Re: Carseat Registry Question

I don't know....I didn't register for it and I wouldn't. We didn't register for a high chair either. I do kind of thing that the registry is for things that you use earlier on.

DS is 8.5 months and still in the infant seat. We got a convertible for Christmas and it is just sitting in my living room right now.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but I didn't and wouldn't do it.

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't count on that coupon from BRU. I never got mine, my BFF (who lives in NJ) never got hers. Plus you don't get it til after DC is born.

Re: Carseat Registry Question

I registered for it and I got it. We put it in storage since we won't need it right away but like some others have said, it's up to your guests to decide what they want to get you.

My approach to registries is to have a wide range of items priced from low to high so people don't feel like you're only looking to get expensive stuff - but absolutely put everything that you will need, even if you won't need it right away. My registry was completely cleared out and I had to go back to add more things on after my shower because people were still asking me where I was registered.. and that stuff got purchased too!

I got my coupon in the mail last week and I'm not due until the 20th. But I didn't count on that coupon anyway.

Re: Carseat Registry Question

One thing to remember if you plan on having more than one child -- carseats expire -- they usually have a shelf-life of 5 years.

I had the Safeseat and DS wasn't in the convertible until he was 11 months. If I had gotten it at my shower, I would have already lost a year of use for it (we plan on having more children and don't want to have to buy new carseats for each of them). Just something to keep in mind.

I registered for the infant seat and stroller and two convertible car seats. We got all of them so now we don't have to worry about the convertible seats.
