Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
I am wondering if I need to get newborn sizes. I got one set for my shower and I noticed I don't have much in the way of NB or 0-3. I didn't want to waste money on Carter's NB if it is going to be too tiny anyway. On the flipside, I don't want to get all 3 months and have it swim on her.
TIA!

You are better off getting the 0-3 months size.....even if it's a little big it will last longer. My DD was in NB size for only a few weeks.

For DD I would say it runs true to size, slightly big. IMO the 3 months size will swim on your munchkin. I would get a couple newborn sizes.

IMO. Big/wide
DS was 6lbs, 11oz at birth and wore Carters NB until he was 4 months old.

Carters runs very true-to-size or even a little generous. I'd definitely have some Newborn and 0-3 month stuff. DD was a summer baby, weighed 7 lbs 8 oz, and was in Carters Newborn onesies for almost 3 months...I was sure they wouldn't last that long, but they did.
LOVE Carters products...just great quality with all the washing, they really last well!

I agree. At 27 months, we still use carter's onesies.

I agree, DS was 8.5 lbs and wore NB for at least a month. Gerber on the other hand seemed to run really small!

I have to agree. Get a couple of NBs, you'll appreciate having something that fits. They lasted until 7 or 8 weeks on my DD.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
The terry cloth jammies run really big. The regular cotton ones shrank time after time in the dryer on low. DS is 11 weeks old and weighs 12 1/2 pounds. The 6 month terry cloth jammies are big on him but the 6 month cotton ones barely fit....

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
Thanks everyone! I just ordered her a dress at the Kohls sale in NB. DH and I are going to stop in to BRU this week to pick up 2 more outfits.
I am going to let my mother know this as she insists Miss Bean does not need NB or even many 0-3 sizes! I have tons of 9 and 12 months!

Also...DS was 8lb 6 oz at birth. He did wear some newborn clothes for about a month. Everything else was 0-3 months.

Carter's I bought all 3 months. My boys were on the bigger side and grew out of the newborn stuff in a week. Plus once you wash their stuff, it shrinks a little.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
like another poster said- very true to size & even a little generous sometimes.
Everyone's experience is different, but i was glad we didnt buy any NB. DD was 9lb 5oz. She wore NB as her coming home outfit, and never again Buyig NB would have been a complete waste for us.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
I think that Carter's runs true to size. DS was 7 lbs at birth in June and wore newborn stuff from Carter's for about the first 6 weeks. The few 0-3 month things we had were swimming on him.

This is pretty much the same for us. DS is 2 months now and weighing almost 12lb and the 3 months are a little big, but not huge.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
I found they ran really true to size...and they're really well made!
I wouldn't suggest going too crazy buying things before the baby arrives...have some of each size though. Not all babies wear NB for that long, but Lily was in it for about 3 months, so it was helpful to have a lot!

agree with everything here...LOVE carters...the best clothes IMO...esp with the onesies...both my kids were in Newborn until 2.5-3 months! Very true to size!!

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
DD just outgrew the Newborn size at 3 weeks old, but only because she was too long for them, otherwise I could fit two of her in them width wise. However I was glad to have the clothes that fit her when she first came home so everything wasn't too big.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
I think they run true to the weight on them. DS weighed 6 lb, 3 oz at birth, he needed the newborn size. But he is now 10 lbs, 2 oz at 6.5 weeks and I have him in 3-6 month tops and 0-3 month bottoms. The 3-6 month onesies say 12.5 lbs, so they are a bit big, but the other size were getting hard to pull over his head and too tight with the diaper to close.

Re: Carter's Clothing-how does it run?
Can't speak for anyone but Santino! He was born 7 pounds 7 ounces and he wore newborn for one month (carters and some other brands). I find that carters runs very true to size. I also found that 3 months was swimming on him in the beginning. Now Satino is almost 17 pounds and is at the end of his carters 6 month pjs and into some of his 9 month pjs (he is 16 weeks on wed). He was in 0-3 months for about 6 weeks and 6 months for about 6 weeks. I would def have a few newborn items on hand only wash one or two then keep the tags on the rest incase you have to return them.
(also, all the carters pjs I have are either newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months ect (not 0-3 or 3-6 ect))
HTH I also wanted to add that I NEVER put santino in NB carters onsies. That was the one thing I started him in 3 months because I liked giving him the extra room and felt more comfortable changing him in the beginning with the bigger onsies. I would never buy the NB onsies again, I would even put I smaller baby in the 3 month ones. Lastly, I LOVE Gap onsies, they are my fav. The cotton is super soft and really gives. Try these! by the way, I'm getting very excited for you michele!!!!
