exactly. they had evidence of a death, but NOT a MURDER.
you simply cannot convict someone of a crime that you have no proof actually happened. THAT would have been a miscarriage of justice.
I understand that most likely it was b/c she was able to hide it all for so long that decomposition removed any trace of the crime...which is a HUGE pill to swallow..
but the law is the law is the law.
I guess I just don't understand. Maybe I'm too rational. We all know she did it. No doubt. I'd bet my life on it.
I personally felt there was more than enough circumstantial evidence and odd coincidences to pin it all on Casey.
If that makes me way less than the ideal juror, then so be it.
Everyone says we have the best system in the world, but I don't agree. Not when people like her and OJ get off.
Shame.

That seems really unfair. These people did not ask for this. They were picked to be on ajury and after many questions by BOTH sides were placed on a trial, any trial and it happened to be this one. How many of them do you think wanted out from the start...my bet would be at least 1 if not 2. I would NEVER want to be on a jury for something like this. Just because we don't agree with a verdict does NOT give ANYBODY the right to lash out at the jury.
SO my question then is what would have been the "perfect jury" that BOTH sides would have agreed on? Wht age, gender, race, eduaction, background would you have thought represented a sample of the citizens in this country?

And to take that a step further, if I remember properly there were no fingerprints on the tape. So even if they were able to conclude cause of death was that tape, there would be no way to link that tape to anywone. The grandfather, the guy down the block, any random person coul dhave put the tape on if there are no prints. No prints means no concrete evidence.

also...they said 3 peices of tape were over her face, no? Mouth, nose and longways. Also...if you are like me and have a deviated septum, you only breathe through your mouth.
Also...to me, even if Caylees body showed suffocation, I still think these jurors would have felt there wasnt enuogh evidence to convict Casey.

you can sometimes determine cause of death through bones...stabbings, shootings, beatings...they can all shatter bones. so you CAN determine certain causes of death, especially trauma, through the condition of the bones.
each murder and case is different. there will be other murderers convicted today. just not this one.

I thought there was proof that the tape was over the nose too, plus a third piece for good measure?
And one of the big reasons why she had no lungs, etc was because her MOTHER waited 31 days to report her missing!! Perhaps if she spoke up from day one, her body would have been discovered sooner - but Casey would not have wanted that.

Every one knows she did it. She may not be in jail but she's sure as helll not going to have an easy life. Im sure she'll get death threats and hate mail, and honestly what employer would hire her. And while this is no where near what she deserves, Im glad most of America feels she's guilty and won't let her forget it.

I would actually say (and this is not a discredit AT ALL) that you are thinking more emotionally. you are making a GUT instinct leap, not necessarily a rational one. 
rationally, no actual murder proof = no murder to prove.

Exactly. No PROOF it was Casey or even a determination of how she died. I get it is because of the body state, but there isn't even a way to show how she died. We are all making guesses on how, but we don't know. They also can't decided or prove if the tape was placed on her before or after she died. All of this is guesses. All anybody knows is that she is dead, and while we are all outraged at whoever today, maybe we can all take a minute to hug our kids and say a prayer or whatever you believe in for that sweet little girl.

There is no perfect jury, but I guess this is why I don't believe in the jury system...

So I guess someone can abduct Casey Anthony, drug her with chloroform, suffocate her with duct tape, keep her in their car long enough to leave the lingering odor of decomposition, and hair from Casey in their trunk. Then they can dump her in the swamp ten houses away from theirs and leave her until all that is left is bones, and get away with murder. Might be a good idea for those seeking vigilante justice....

BINGO. I guess the meter reader guy had access to her car and created that smell (by placing Caylees body) in the trunk.
She is guilty and she is guilty of COVERING up, bottom line. What are the odds someone in jail will teach her a lesson or two?

Actually, we don't all know she did it. A whole bunch of people believe will all their heart she did it, but the reality is that the one and only person who knows how Caylee died is the person who caused her death.

I agree. but NO ONE on this thread ever wants the law to assume that evidence would be found at an earlier time. it is a slippery slope.
again, I am so disgusted that this little girl DIED and no one has to at least EXPLAIN the truth. WHY did she die?
that beauty didn't deserve this. did not deserve to die like that and did not deserve this to be her legacy.

Just curious then, why could Scott Peterson be found guilty on ONLY circumstantial evidence....AND get the Death Penalty?
Would you guess that maybe her being a young "attractive" female has anything to do with it?

I just heard this and my stomach turned
I couldn't / wouldn't listen to the defense team when they spoke earlier, but did they mention anything about "focusing on who the real killer is now"? Anything regarding seeking justice for Caylee?

May I ask why? I don't mean this snarky or unkind....I am truely curious as to what you think, evidence based, supports a guilty verdict. Maybe I have not considered it?
I know you don't mean to be snarky - I know you're a nice poster. 
You said earlier that you haven't followed the trial that much, and I know all my reasons for thinking she was guilty would probably peg me as being easily swayed or emotional-based, and it's probably true.
Just a few things, even if it's not deemed as evidence:
No one else killed that girl...
She was gone for 30 days and Casey never called police.
She lied to law enforcement about everything..
She made up people to fit a fake story.
The previous internet searches.
Her actions while her daughter was missing.
There was no accidental death - she basically proved that in that jail conversation with her parents.
Like I said before, I'd be the worst juror ever, I guess.

So people actually believed she was kidnapped, no wait, drowned by accident then tape was put over her mouth?
Back to the question of how did she really die? If she drowned, then why can't Casey have purposely drowned her, for that matter too? If drugged, then she either intentionally drugged her to kill her or accidentally killed her (either way killing her).

Nope, they are the DEFENSE lawyers....they aren't interested in finding the real killer...although they probably know she is right in front of them
I could never be a defense lawyer for the scum of the earth and go to sleep at night
I think the champagne thing was a LOT distasteful
