Cash gift for daycare teachers for holiday?
I love love love my DD's daycare. She has 2 wonderful teachers and I really want to give them a gift for the holiday's. Originally I was going to do Visa or Amex gift cards but I hate that I have to pay 3-5 bucks per gift card just to purchase the gift card. I'd rather put the 3-5 dollars into their gift. Is it tacky for me to give them a cash gift inside the card I am having my dd make? I hate to do a gift card to dunkin donuts, target, starbucks if they don't shop there, but is a cash gift insulting?

No - not at all. Our daycare provides first and last names on the teacher list come the holidays for those that want to write a check.

oooh interesting! I wonder if my daughters daycare will do this. It is the first time we are there so I have no idea what the protocol will be. Thanks so much!!

when I was in dc cash was a wonderful gift.
I was appreciative of any gift but cash went a long way for me. I don't drink coffee so those gc's went to dh or to snacks or hot cocoa if I made it there

I usually get the Visa gift cards from TD Bank. If you have an account there they are free.

I give cash, DS is in a private preschool, I know in public school cash is not allowed but at private I figure its fine, this way they can use the money how they wish

I've been giving cash for gifts at my daycare for 6 years now. I've never gotten the vibe that they don't like getting cash.

I would do cash then. Visa gift cards are annoying because if they don't use the whole thing at once, they need to always know the exact balance. It won't just take the balance off like a regular gift card/credit card.

REALLY? That annoys me even more than paying an extra 5 bucks for a gift card. Def. going to do cash now. Thanks so much everyone!
