I've found Lodge pans for the best prices on Amazon actually. They are pretty dirt cheap and they will last you FOREVER. I have so many of them..............dutch ovens, frying pans, griddles, etc. They are my favorite pieces to cook with.

If you want to go high end, enamel coated like a Le Creuset or Staub you can look in Sur La Table or Williams Sonoma. Occasionally you can find them kicking around Home Goods too!!



Before I order from Amazon, I have to check their return policy. I will take a look today in the dept stores but I want a good quality one.

I have a bunch of different pans myself, mostly TFal brand. I will look for the Lodge pans now. I want to reorganize my kitchen & get rid of cheap fry pans through the years that now are hard to clean. I am shopping for good pans thst will last a LONG time. Having to keep replacing cheap pans are just a headache.

I hear ya. It stung to spend hundreds of dollars on pots and pans but honestly, if you get something good it's definitely worth the investment and they really will last a long time.

I have a mix of things, I like variety. LOL I have a few pieces of Calphalon nonstick from Williams Sonoma that are very nice pans, then I have a few pieces from the Calphalon Hard Anodized line and lastly I have my cast iron. Chat Icon

My IL's gave us a hand-me-down set of cast iron pots/skillets, already seasoned, and now they're pretty much the only things I use to cook with anymore.

We don't wash them, just wipe them down and re-oil them. Lately the coating is kind of wearing away and DH is saying we need to kind of strip them and re-season them, but it's a whole process apparently.

I wish I'd gotten them from a family member! Cause I hear the more seasoned (through cooking), the better! I tried to get them non-seasoned but couldn't find them anywhere. So I got them seasoned and I'm planning in stripping them before seasoning them my way (I read that the best oil to season them is flax oil). I read that u can strip them in ur oven using the self cleaning setting.

I have a Lodge cast iron fry pan. It was not pre-seasoned, does not have an enamel coating.
Just plain old cast iron.
I seasoned it myself, then used it for cooking a variety of things to continue to season it.
Cooking bacon in cast iron is a great way to add to the seasoning.

After cooking, I wipe it out, give it a quick swish in hot hot water with a dish brush (no soap, ever) dry it well, heat it just a little bit and give it a quick wipe down with vegetable oil.




I do the same, love my cast iron pans and have to nearly kill my DH after he has left them soaking a few times over night and striped all my seasoning away. Chat Icon
