Cat hair
is overtaking my house....Well it overtook it a while ago but I want to try to get a handle on it.
Anyone have tips, tricks, useless things that they use to control it?
TIA!

Re: Cat hair
The only thing I can say is vacuum, vacuum, vacuum...my mother has had up to 12 cats at a time and the only way she was ever able to control the hair was to vacuum. She used to vacuum twice a day and you never knew she had one cat, much less 10.

Re: Cat hair
my sister comes over alot and she's extreamly allergic to my cat. I actually vaccum the furniture with my shop vac, as it really sucks everything out. I also use the Febreeze allergin reducer after I vaccum. My sister has never had a problem, or has anyone else that has come to my house who has an allergy to her.

Re: Cat hair
If you brush your cat often it will help remove the dead hairs before they fall off. Also lots of vacuuming!

I am going to have to try the Febreeze because vacuuming doesn't work alone. I had friends over this weekend and two of them were really suffering from the cat allergies. But then again, I do have 3. I tried to vacuum up every hair I could find and put them up in one of the bedrooms, but obviously there was still a lot of dander around.

Re: Cat hair
Getting them groomed/shaved for this time of year really helps. It gets rid of the dander and excess hair before it falls off.
I bathed both my cats and dog in the bathtub last week, 1 cat sat still and cried the whole time, the other wasn't going down without a fight. Depends on the temperment of your cat whether you would want to attempt this.
The hair was driving me crazy!

Re: Cat hair
Besides brushing, having them on better foods will help their coat/shedding. Also, foods containing omega oil (or giving them the supplement) helps too!
