Cat keeps peeing on rug
and pooping too. well trained VERY good cat. I mean seriously good cat. She gets baths and all.
recently started peeing and pooping in this one spot on my new living room rug!!   it started about June ish and hasn't really stopped.
took her to the vet twice! both times... "she's fine"
we used the spray to deter her... still happens.
Does anyone know what i can do or why this might be happening?

you need to rip up the carpet & replace it... once a cat pees in one spot, they will keep peeing there as long as they can still smell their old pee
our cat started peeing in our spare bedroom out of spite b/c he didnt like his new litter box... we tried EVERYTHING to get the smell out... eventually had to rip the carpet up and replace it... he kept peeing in there b/c he could still smell his old pee

the first question to answer is...
what else change? new litter? new litterbox? new location of litter box? different food? different schedule? new plants? cleaning products? how long after the new rug went in did this start?

I went through this list... and nothing changed. we did move in April... but she was fine for months!
One other thing.. I always insisted on 2 litter boxes. DH got rid of one anyway. She started after the 2nd litter was taken away (they never used the 2nd one) but not immediately after... a few months maybe (like 2 months).
we moved in april (brand new rug). box was in one place for less than a month. she started peeing and pooping on rug in June. she stopped for about 2 weeks and started again. she sometimes goes in the litter... but usually when we are home she goes in the litter (either she knows we are watching her or she is mad when we aren't?).
ahh trying to figure this out is painful!! she ONLY did this once with a flea infestation. She's usually the BEST behaved cat ever. She wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't a reason. Aside from this, she has zero behavior issues - but i don't think it's a behavior issue.. mmore like something is wrong.
i noticed a small patch of hair missing on her.... and it was red and she was scratching. it's on her head near her ear. Vet said it's probably bc she needed her ears cleaned (and then she cleaned them). I was thinking maybe like a skin infection?? IDK.
