Cat with pancreatits from eating random things
My 16 yr old Mikey likes to bite off pieces of plastic bags and foam (the bottoms of flip-flops, mattress pads, etc). He usually pukes it up within 15 minutes. We try sooooo hard to keep things off the floor, but sometimes he gets into something. Well he had another vomiting bout that lasted a couple of days, vet decided to do some blood work, b/c Mikey had just had a prednisolone injection the week before (he also has inflammatory bowel disease). The prednisolone injection calms his system, so he shouldn't have been vomiting due to the IBD. Turns out his a few of his enzymes were sky high, which the vet said was characteristic of pancreatitis. And the pancreatitis can totally be caused by his body trying to digest these random things he eats. They did an x-ray and ruled out a blockage, considering his appetite is strong and his bowel movements are ok.
How do I stop this behavior? Anyone else have experience with it? I know dogs eat random things, but cats is another story!
