Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
I looked it up and it says that according to doctrine, you are excused from the no-meat rule.
Are any of you planning to still observe, and if so, what can you recommend as meal options on a Friday.

Re: Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
When I was pregnant I would usually eat pasta or pizza on Fridays during lent...eggplant parm, lasagna...all yummy.
But if heartburn is an issue and the sauce is a big NO...white pizza, spinach pizza, fetuccine alfredo...

Re: Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
I don't eat meat everyday anyway.
I think tomorrow I am just making split pea soup, so it's ready to eat when we get home from church.
Friday's will probably be pizza, pasta, or fish.

Re: Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
hmmmm. I will not abstain from the meat. I was a vegetarian for 10 years- I went long enough meatless. I'm not really a lent practicer, anyway- so I guess this doesn't really apply to me. I'm a naughty catholic.

Re: Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
I abstain from meat on Friday all year long, so it's no biggy for me.
There are so many other choices if you choose to observe this during lent.
fish pasta veggie platters/burgers quesadias or anything veggie mexican breakfast foods (pancakes, eggs, cereal) pizza eggplant parm

Re: Catholic Lent-Observing Preggos
I consider myself a naughty cathloic too. Times like this it bothers me.
I think what i will give up for lent will actually be meat on Fridays. I am not a red meat person but I love some chicken. so no more chicken on Fridays.

you can be vegetarian while being pregnant you just have to watch your soy intake and a few other things. if you are really religious i say skip it!

I was wondering about this myself, is it on Wednesdays and Fridays no meat or is it just Fridays?

I thought that you were only excused from eating meat for medical reasons and that just "being" pregnant wasn't. But being that you were pregnant, you would not have to fast. At least this is what I was taught.
I will not eat meat on Ash Wednesday or on Fridays. But I certainly WILL NOT fast tomorrow!
Pizza and Macaroni and Cheese here I come!
eta: Fasting in this instance is to only eat small meals and not in between meals. But you can have a "big" dinner.
