cats and colds

Is it likely that cats can get the 'common cold'?(I forgot what they call it in medical terms)
My cat is sneezing like crazy! The beginning of this year my one cat had a runny nose/sneezing and then the other cat got it. The vet gave them antibiotics. NOW, they have it again. wth? I've had quite a few cats in the past and never recall having this with my other cats
