Cats in my yard

Ugggg this drives me up the wall. I have a fenced in yard where I allow my Katie to run through. I have seen 4 different cats in my yard. In the front yard by the fence I put some cayen pepper to discourage them but now they come into the back yard. They drive my dog up the wall. She will chase them and they sit at the top of the fence hissing at her or they will sit on the deck when she is inside and just stare at her.
Any suggestions of how to keep them out of my yard?

I have a super soaker and I've sprayed them but they keep coming back.

I wish I did....we have them in our yard also and we have a fenced in yard.
Some nights they must hang around longer than others and Misty goes insane in the house. I have to let her out to chase them otherwise she runs from room to room barking and whining.

I don't know why cat owners think it is ok to let their animals run free Chat Icon

Not trying to cause any drama.... but that's a very unfair statement to make. Yes, there are people that have indoor/outdoor cats (mine is indoor only), but not all cats that wander into peoples' yards are owned by people. Many of these cats could be feral cats.

They could also be feral cats. There's not much you can do about them.

The only solution to this is trap neuter return. Fix the ferals(most likely are ferals) so they can't continue to breed.
Many people are like" I won't do that.. too time consuming and costs too much. But in all honesty it really isn't. There is a wonderful group of people on LI who do this. For those who are interested, here is the info:

This will stop more cats from coming into your yards.

I'm pretty sure they are my nieghbors cats. Although there was a new one. I don't think they would be very happy with me if I did that.

ETA: How do I tell if they are ferrels? I know that 2 of them are not. I'm not very happy with my nieghbors about this but I don't want to start drama with them. But what if my dog actually catches one? I really don't like cats but I don't want to see one hurt.
I'm so frustrated with this. Chat Icon

Feral cats won't come near you. They will most likely run away if you try to approach them.
If they are pets they are much more likely to be friendly and let you pet them.
I would ask your neighbors if they are their cats.
I also doubt your dog would be able to catch a cat unless the cat was injured or sick.

Have you tried this before? Did you have to pay for the spaying? If I catch one how do I know for sure it's feral and not someone's pet?

Another thing- is there such a thing as a relocation program for them if they are feral? Aside from not wanting them in my yard- don't they need food & shelter?
