Cavapoo

What can you tell me about cavapoos? We are thinking of getting one. She is just so sweet and my kids love her. My husband has some allergies to dogs ( goldendoodle). I just do not want to bring her home to find out he is allergic.

I am also curious about temperment and the house training process. She is crurently 5 months old. Thank you in advance for your input. ALso, if you can post pict of your cavapoo I would appreciate it.

Re: Cavapoo

my friend has one and it's very sweet and cute. However, if your husband is allergic to a goldendoodle then he'll most likely be allergic to a cavapoo.

Re: Cavapoo

it would be better to have a dog that is more poodle. My dog has a mother that is a standard poodle and a dad that was a goldendoodle - sp she's more poodle and less likely to shed, etc.

Re: Cavapoo

Your husband should be allowed a significant amount of time with him to 'test' the allergy sensitivity. Will he know within 30-60 minutes if he's allergic? Can't he visit the dog?

My DH is sensitive to dog saliva only and some dogs we met gave him hives but others didn't. We knew pretty quickly which dogs we met were going to induce a reaction and which weren't.

I'd definitely plan for the worst and agree to do whatever it takes to keep the dog, even if he shows symptoms later. There are no guarantees with people or children that are allergic, so you have to take each individual dog as a unique case.

Good luck, and I'm glad you're looking at rescues. Chat Icon

Re: Cavapoo

I have 2 of them. One is more poodle and one is more spaniel.

I have allergies and I am fine with them. They both don't shed.

I can't upload pics now but there are a few BAD pics in the "recent pics of your dogs".

They are BOTH amazing with kids. I trained them early because they are small dogs. They do have a tendency to jump at first when excited and it's a work in progress.

They are great little dogs.

They are 18 lbs and 21 lbs.
