CD3 results
I had my first round of CD3 testing this morning. Dr. Brenner called me a little while ago and said so far my bloodwork looked normal as far as the glucose, etc...BUT my CD3 testing "was NOT normal". My heart just sank.
I asked what that meant exactly, trying to speak over the lump in my throat. He said it not way out of range at what they expect to see for my age (41), but as we know women at my age stop producing as many eggs,etcc...and he wants me to repeat CD3 testing next cycle. My HSG is scheduled fo May 14th. I just had a nice round of crying on DH's shoulder and I am just pressing on I suppose from here.

No, I didn't! He really didn't explain what that ment and I was so choked up I could barely speak. What should I have asked, and what else should I know?

Re: CD3 results
It is upsetting but at least you have some answers and the doctor can start to steer you in the right direction now.

Re: CD3 results
Most likely, your FSH was elevated which is an indication of poor ovarian reserve. Basically, as the ovaries age the quantity and quality of the eggs declines and the body produces higher levels of FSH in response. You need to schedule a face to face with Dr. B. when all the testing is done so you can get answers to all your questions.
ETA: This is not necessarily the kiss of death. FSH levels can change month to month and some ladies have luck with accupuncture in lowering FSH levels.

Hang in there. Re-do the testing. I've heard that it's not the end.
There's still hope.

Re: CD3 results
Call and Ask for your FSH results. Thats likely the culprit to making it abnormal and you can do some research etc and have beeter knowledge.
I think it helps to know exactly what your up against.

That is not that high given your age. The ideal FSH at CD 3 is 10 or below.

Re: CD3 results
that's not so high from what I'm reading. Yes below 10 is ideal but all is not lost. Most RE's I've been reading cut off between 12-15.
Hang in there..you'll be knocked up in no time!

Re: CD3 results
it's not a static number from what I'm reading. It fluctuates.
Your next reading could be 6 and the next be 12..as long as it fluctuates I've been reading that you are still in good shape.
I'm no expert..not even close, I've just been doing some research. There are other factors too not just yuor FSH number that determine your fertility.

How do I lower that dang number!?
Hi, I'm 40 and my FSH has been as high as 15. Last month it was 14, this cycle it is 6.9. So it does fluctuate and I do notice (since I've been doing this for almost a year) that my body responds better when its lower.
So, what did I do to get it down. I'm doing acupuncture (I had stopped for a month and a half before getting that 14 reading). I'm doing wheat grass powder and fish oil (needs to be pharmaceutical grade...Omega 3 is a good brand). Trying to alternate Yoga with walking (though not sticking to this as much as I should).I most likely have poor egg quality. But I am also doing a protocol for IVF#2 that involves estrogen (which also helps to bring down FSH levels) to grow better quality eggs. Staying positive and not giving up is also good.
Good luck!

This is all great advice and has probably helped a lot to bring the numbers down. I have also heard that wheat grass shots are great for bringing down FSH...I know of two people who have gotten their FSH to go down quite a bit by doing wheat grass shots.
good luck!

I agree with the wheat grass shots and I would be doing them if there was a place out where I live that had fresh wheat grass. Our home juicer wont juice wheat grass, it calls for a special juicer. Plus I hear it tastes disgusting. I hide the taste of the wheat grass powder in organic apple cider.
