Celebrating 1st birthday and Christianing together

So after long discussions we decided to celebrate the dedication with Mathias' first birthday....now I know I have about 6 months to prepare so I might be thinking about this way too early but I want to start looking at invites....

I would like the invite to have his picture/pictures but also have room to include all of the info...the invitation will be inviting the guests to the dedication on one date and telling them that the celebration will be another date with his first birthday...hope that made sense.

Something like this:

A child is God’s most precious gift

MOM and DAD joyfully invite you to witness with them the dedication of their son

Mathias Alfonso

Sunday, March 15, 2009
1:00 pm
Christian Church

Then please join us in celebrating his first birthday and dedication on:
Saturday, March 28, 2009
3:30 – 9pm
LOCATION
ADDRESS
Westbury, New York 11590

RSVP by March 13th to 516-555-5555

For those that did their own invites please shed some light....

and those that ordered ...please share websites...

Thank you

This is an invite I had seen ... but both events are on the same day

Re: Celebrating 1st birthday and Christianing together

Or should I just do two invitations and send it in one envelope...

I love love all of the 1st birthday invites I have seen here and really wanted to do something similar but I keep thinking that I would have to settle for less (meaning no picture(s)) because of all of the wording...thoughts?

I'm a bit confused about the "dedication". Are you celebrating after the church or no?

I feel like these are two seperate occasions b/c the dates are different. If you want to do both in one day, I would pick only 1 day, not 2. I wouldn't do 2 invites for the same date of a party or combine them in an envelope.

It is confusing...the date given to me by my church is Sunday March 15....Mathias' actual birthday is Wednesday, March 25 and we want to celebrate it on Sat. March 28.

We can't afford to do two separate celebrations. Which is why we are waiting for his first birthday. But I would like people to witness his dedication.

In that case I would send out 2 separate invites.

It's so hard. Then you feel bad leaving some people out.

Enjoy yourself and whatever you decide to do! It'll be great. :)

Would you do 2 separate invites in one envelope? Since I am celebrating both occasions on one day?

That's so great!

I did Noah's Christening on his first birthday and did a party for both together that day.

I sent a Christening invitation only and told them by word of mouth that it would be a dual celebration for his bday as well.

I so wish my life was simpler...

Unfortunately the dedication and the date I want to celebrate his birthday are two different dates...hey at least its in the same month...gotta laugh at myself.

The only reason I am steering away from sending 2 invites is because I don't want people to assume that I am going to do something after the dedication....I can't afford to!!!!!!!!!!
