Re: Celebrity Summit

We did it last summer and had a great time. Beautiful ship, great service, etc. I'd be glad to answer specific questions.

I want to know about what there is to do on the boat (ie e pools, night life, etc). How was the food? I am a vegetarian with food allergies. What kind of room did you stay in? Did you get the drink package?

Thanks

Well I traveled with my two kids and DH. There is basically one main pool (pool area basically two pools with a small sitting area between). There is an indoor adult pool- the solarium (over 16 or 18 can't remember...but no kids).

The food is good for cruise food. It is the best of mass market lines. Think...RCCL, NCL, Princess etc. Cruise food IMO is not fabulous but more like good catering, although we have very good meals in their specialty restaurant. You should be happy with the food.

There is a nice martini bar, a show, a disco. If you want a lot of nightlife look to RCCL. It has nightlife but this is very subjective. I have done about 11 or 12 celebrity cruises and never been bored. I have also done two princess, an NCL and a now defunct 5 star cruise line in Europe. If you are looking for a heavier bar and party scene I would suggest checking out NCL, RCCL or carnival.

Celebrity will be a bit more refined, pampering relaxing type of cruise. I have been on Celebrity cruises for about 25 years and never had a boring cruise.

Food. My daughter had a bunch of food allergies she recently outgrew. I will say it depends on a few things. The asst. maitre'd you get and how proactive you are. Our first Summit to Bermuda- our maitre'd fell over backwards, calling us, checking in with us, making sure we were introduced to the head of the aqua spa food as well. My DD ate like a queen, grilled pork loin, steaks, specialty salads, desserts. Etc. they made her special cookies.

Our next cruise our asst maître d ignored us for two nights. We had to continually ask him to come over, he was MIA at the buffet. We ran into our old Maître d trying to get help at the buffet. He was horrified. He must have said something bc we got a call from our maître d apologizing and asking how he could help. Was fine the rest of the cruise. They will come to you at night and bring menus for the main dining room. They do prefer you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant but we did not...only dinners. They will go over the menu for the next day and let you pick items or they can make you something.

Rooms..we had family view rooms which are amazing. Huge rooms with a separate area for the kids to sleep and a humongous aft balcony.

My parents came with us. They had a concierge class cabin next to us once and aqua class the other.

Are you traveling with or without kids. I like concierge class or better yet aqua spa. Aqua spa are for only 2 people though. They have their own restaurants. They eat dinners in Blu.

Most people only get the package if it is free (3-1-1 deal). If you are a huge drinker, might be worth it. But for most it is not. I do like the non alcoholic premium one. Gives you soda, premium bottled water, coffees (including things like espressos, frozen coffees etc), juices, smart water, specialty non alcoholic frozen drinks too. You can easily meet that cost if you get one or two coffees, sodas, cold bottled water before getting off in Bermuda. Then you could pay for the 1-3 drinks you consume. We are elite so we get drinks at the captains clubs lounge so then we just buy one additional drink.
