I've never been to the Queens Zoo, but I found the Central Park Zoo so totally and utterly boring. There are literally like 4 exhibits.

Re: Central park zoo vs queens zoo

I hated the queens zoo, they had very few animals. I liked the central park zoo and the prospect park zoo.

my boys love the central park zoo and then they can play in the playgrounds afterwards. In addition they have the victorian gardens amusements in the park by the skating rink now.

Central park zoo has a lot more to offer IMO.

Just an FYI, the Queens Zoo has no concession stand, just 1-2 vending machines so dont plan to eat there unless you bring your own food. Chat Icon

Re: Central park zoo vs queens zoo

Thanks! We have the WCS membership and always do the bronx zoo. I think we will try the central park zoo next week.

Another question, how is Ny Aquarium for 1 yr olds?

It's a really quick zoo..almost not worth it for the long trip in although if you pair it with going other places in the city while you're there it makes it more fun. The Queens Zoo has the playground for all children and the carousel nearby though so those are other things that can be done.

We took DS to the NY Aquarium last week. He's 16 months. We had a good time. We were there for about 3 hours and then walked the coney island boardwalk.

I will say that I think DS has more fun at the spray parks though. He can run around more etc. Just don't know how much of the spray parks we can take lol.

Re: Central park zoo vs queens zoo ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION!

We LOVE the Queens Zoo. Parking is close and free, the carousel is fun, the petting zoo is cute, and DD loves the playground there. It is so easy to get to, to see and not feel rushed. I bring lunch with us, and DD has a great time.

I like the Central Park Zoo too, but it is definitely more of a production for us. Getting there, parking, etc. I would think Queens Zoo would be better for your situation.... Chat Icon Enjoy!

ETA - Any time I have gone to the Aquarium it was teeming with school and/or camp trips, and DD couldn't get near any of the exhibits....not sure when/if we will be going back.

Re: Central park zoo vs queens zoo ADDED ANOTHER QUESTION!

We loved the CP zoo. I thought it was great for their ages, and they have the little childrens zoo attached which is fun with a petting zoo etc. And then like others said, your in the park already and its a short walk to the carosuel /the amusement park from the zoo.

Same here, it was such a waste of money, and my kids were old enough to do everything. Next time we'll stick with the Bronx Zoo.
