I have been putting rice in bottles for about a week now-for reflux. We had same issues...but I put a small amount of prune juice in & DH doesnt notice & now we have all systems go!

I had a similiar problem. We've tried rice, oatmeal and barley for two months and finally got our ped's approval to stop trying cereal for now.
If you haven't tried barley, I might try that.
But our ped said that there's no real reason a baby has to have cereal so we can either stop trying the cereal altogether or wait a few weeks, and try again.
I opted for waiting a few weeks and trying again. I put a little in DS's bottle every other day to try to get his stomach used to it. Good luck!
ETA - we started him on prunes and apple/prune juice and that didn't help until we stopped the cereal. But now, his favorite fruit is prune.

How old is your DC? My DS is 6 mos so not sure if putting off cereal is the answer...he eats it just fine but it is clearly wreaking havoc on his system :( maybe i will ask the ped if we can move on to fruits/veggies.

Same thing happened to my DS. Barley was best for us. Definitely stay away from rice! It also might just take some time for her body to adjust to the solids. When my DS would get constipated prune juice didn't work. Just giving him a couple of ounces of water did the trick for us. Sometimes I mixed in a little pear juice to get him to drink it.

I was actually having this issue.
I started giving her rice in her bottle 2 nights ago due to reflux, and was feeling really bad for her all day yesterday cuz she couldn't poo at all...
I was just about to give her prune juice last night, but.......
*************BOOM**************
EXPLOSION CENTRAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank goodness.... I felt so bad watching her strain all day.

I just put a little bit of prunes mixed into the cerals, because my son was really getting backed up...all is good now.

yes this will happen at first. you shouldnt really worry about it. by suppositories if he doesnt go after 3 days. His body is adjusting to the change.
My son had this very same thing happen to him. Then one day all of sudden he started pooping 3 times per day. It usually takes a few weeks for the body to adjust.
Also try a little bit of prunes or the prune/apple juic they sell. Also pear juice will make them go too.

Barley helped my son. I used to mix barley with rice every morning.

Rice and oatmeal bind DD - but barley does the opposite. You could try barley and if gives him the runs you could mix it with rice or oatmeal to counter balance the effect.
