Chandeliers in a living room?
Okay, here's our living room. Messy and we are still on the search for pictures for above the couch. Now, DH has an idea to put in recessed lighting. I was on board but then thought about how historic our apt. is and how a chandelier might be more elegant. So, here's a crappy pic of our living room.
This is the chandellier I was thinking about.
Ideas? Thoughts? Also, aside from HD and lowes, what are some good places for chandeliers/
Edited for super large pic.

I like it, but I am not sure how a white one would look in the room.
I just bought one at Lamps Plus - Link They have a really big selection and free shipping on most items. I am in Vegas right now and went to the store today.

Re: Chandeliers in a living room?
We just bought a house with a chandelier right in the doorway of the living room when you walk in...I would highly doubt to call my house historic but I do love it...we are putting in recessed lighting this summer. I love the look of recessed lighting. My chandelier is not as nice as yours and we didn't want to go buy a new one. Good Luck!

Re: Chandeliers in a living room?
IMO, a chandelier would not blend w/ the style of your room. i would add a floor lamp in the corner (next to the sofa) and a end table w/ a table lamp on the other end of the sofa. ideally, you would add a 3rd lamp to the room (perhaps a small console table in btwn the windows w/ a buffet lamp and a mirror or artwork on the wall). i can't really see the details of the room. can you enlarge the pic?

Re: Chandeliers in a living room?
What's your ceiling height in that room?
For that room, I'd lean towards an alabaster large pendant style chandelier (or semi-flush), but based on the photo you posted, I think your ceiling height isn't ideal for a chandelier.
I'd probably do sconces along with recessed lighting.
